The cult of Christian relics dates to the second and third centuries, when martyrs were often persecuted and dismembered. Their remains were gathered in ornate vessels known as reliquaries, which were considered conduits to the divine—material sites where corporeal suffering was transfigured into sanctity and power. The Reliquaries are an evocative series of sculptures inspired by these sacred containers.
